Herding Hill Farm
Spot Description
Just got back from an amazing TentBox trip to Herding Hill Farm and honestly, it’s one of the best campsites we’ve stayed at.
First off – the onsite farm is great. You can walk over and visit all the animals, which is a proper bonus, especially if you’re into animals. The llamas were definitely my favourite.
The site itself is perfect for walking – loads of scenery and you’re spoiled for views. It’s a decent walk down into Haltwhistle village, which has plenty of pubs and even a few takeaways that’ll deliver to the campsite (yes, really). Just be warned – that walk back up the hill is a leg burner, especially after a few pints!
Facilities-wise? Best we’ve ever had. Clean, modern toilets and showers, a proper indoor kitchen/washing area with seating, kettle, microwave, vending machines – the works. Makes a big difference when the weather’s a bit grim.
We also brought a pop-up tent/living pod for cooking and chilling, had our cooler box and stove set up in there and a little table – made it feel like a home base. Electric hookup and even decent WiFi, which was perfect for our electric blanket in the XL and a laptop to watch films on.
Only downside was a few noisy neighbours being loud at night – but that’s not Herding Hill’s fault. Some people are just idiots.
All in all – highly recommend. Llamas, lush views, brilliant facilities, and close to everything. We’ll be back for sure.
