My Review of the Outsunny Folding Gazebo

James July 2, 2025

This is the second time I’ve used the Outsunny Folding Instant Shelter, and overall it’s been a great bit of kit — especially for the price.

Setup is really straightforward. Once you’ve done it once, it takes no time at all. It gives a good amount of space underneath, and it’s actually a lot more solid in the rain than I expected. We’ve had a few proper downpours and it held up with no leaks or pooling — which is always a win when you’re camping.

Now, full honesty — we did have one issue. On one trip, the wind really picked up while we were trying to take it down, and it actually lifted off the ground and yanked one of the corners hard enough to rip through one of the eyelet holes. It was frustrating, but I’ll take some of the blame for not getting it packed away fast enough or pegged down tighter.

That said, aside from that moment, it’s been absolutely fine. Even in heavy rain and breezy conditions, it’s stayed put and done exactly what we needed it to do.

I also like the fact it has hooks built in, so you can hang lights or a small lantern inside — makes evenings a bit easier. And the carry bag it comes in is decent enough. You’ll need a bit of effort to fold it back neatly, but it’s doable.

Final Thoughts

Would I recommend it? Yes, definitely — just be sensible in high winds. For general camping use, festivals, or even just a bit of garden shade, it does the job well. I’d just say make sure it’s pegged down properly, and if it’s really blowing a gale, get it down early before it gets a chance to take off.

Still using mine — rip and all.
